How did you evaluate whether you are gaining or losing?

Example 1:

Paying RM 2.90 for an extra 20% potato chips, compared to normal price RM 2.50, when it looks like you have gain an earning in satisfaction, but your body, your health, your teeth, your bla bla bla are paying the price. So what are you gaining exactly?

Example 2:

When new opened shopping complex's cinema give away free movie tickets, but that movie you already watched before, but just because it is so called free, you decide to sacrifice your 2-3 hours, drive to that place, waste extra RM 7.50 for popcorn and softdrinks. In the end, you think "Yeah, I earn 1 free ticket and watch a free movie", but the truth is you had lost 2-3 hours of your life time when you can use it to other things instead of rewatch the movie. On the same time, you actually paid RM X.xx of petrol expenses and an extra RM 7.50 for popcorn and softdrinks, so who is earning now?

Example 3

McDonalds value meal. Just add RM 1-3 and enjoy the add-ons. Sounds worth it. It is because McD wants you to feel that it is worth it, and YOU DID. Erm I don't feel like explain the calculation here. If you ever study McD marketing plan and strategies or if you happen to be an investor of McD, you will know this.

Start become a smart consumer today, it happens all the time in our life when a person is too obssess with the figure.
